PRagmatics and Independent Student Management

Students with Complex Learning Differences

PRISM provides pragmatics and an independent student management track that fosters both core academic skills and life application education. Students ages 5 and up, working in small groupings, master life management skills that enable them to become independent successful adults.  Students demonstrate the ability to benefit from the academic curriculum at Oak Hill, but require more time and assistance than offered in GATE to master the necessary skills for college or vocational choices.

PRISM Student Disorder Profile:

Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Non-Verbal Learning Disorder, Sensory Integration Disorder, Social Skill Deficits, Asperger’s, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Mild Neurological Disorders.  No clinically significant delays in cognitive development.

PRISM provides:

  • 5:1 Student/Teacher ratio
  • Highly individualized track for the development of social, life and academic skills
  • Age groupings:  5-7 (Grades K-2), 8-10 (Grades 3-5), 11-13 (Middle School), 14 & up (Upper School) 

The objective for children ages 5 - 10 is to provide timely and critical support that enables them to successfully transition into the GATE program.  PRISM students in Middle and Upper School follow a modified academic track aimed at developing one’s natural gifts for a successful post high school occupation.

GATE prepares capable college bound learning different students for an academic experience beyond high school.  Students benefit from an individually guided academic track that provides essential classroom modifications and allows them to demonstrate their full capacity for learning. The program’s emphasis is placed on strengthening reading, writing, spelling and math skills, and empowering students through the development of self-awareness, self-monitoring, and self-advocacy skills.

ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyspraxia, Auditory Processing Disorder, Speech-Language Disorders, Sensory Integration Disorder
