The Application Process

Oak Hill Academy uses a rolling admission process, and enrolls new students throughout the school year when space is available.  The school admits students of any race, color, religion, sex, nationality or ethnic origin, and does not discriminate in the administration of its educational or admissions policies, scholarship program, and/or other school-administered programs.

The purpose of Oak Hill Academy's admission procedures is to identify students who will benefit from the school's individually guided academic track and speech-language based model of instruction.  New students are accepted on the basis of the following assessment tools:

  • Psychoeducational testing
  • Speech-Language testing
  • Neurological testing, if applicable
  • Therapy updates and reports
  • Therapeutic needs
  • Academic needs
  • Student evaluations provided by the applicants current teachers and principal
  • Observations of OHA faculty during a student's 2-day visit

If you are interested in submitting an Admissions Application the following forms must be completed:

  • Admissions Application (parents to complete)
  • Teacher/Advisor Evaluation
  • Head of School Evaluation
  • English Teacher Evaluation (required for students in grades 3 and up)
  • Math Teacher Evaluation (required for students in grades 3 and up)

A COMPLETE ADMISSIONS APPLICATION FILE INCLUDES:

  1. $150.00 Application Fee (Check payable to Oak Hill Academy)
  2. Admissions Application
  3. Recent photograph of applicant
  4. Psychoeducational or Neuropsychological Evaluation Report -- Required for children ages 7 and up. Testing completed more than 3 years prior to the application date cannot be accepted
  5. Copies of Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy evaluations, and therapy updates
  6. Teacher Evaluation completed by your child's most recent Homeroom Teacher/Advisor
  7. English and Math Teacher Evaluation, if applicant is in grade 3 or up, completed by child's most recent instructors
  8. Head of School Evaluation

If your child has not undergone formal diagnostic testing by a Developmental Pediatrician or Licensed Psychologist specializing in Developmental or Educational Diagnostic Evaluations, or a Speech-Language Assessment, please contact Lisa Partridge at 214-353-9323 to schedule an evaluation for your child. The Assessment Center at Oak Hill Academy provides comprehensive evaluations for children/students experiencing challenges related to learning, behavior, attention, communication and speech. 

IMPORTANT: The Admissions Department will not review incomplete Application Files.  Once all required forms have been submitted, the student's file will then go under review by the department.
