The Application Process

Oak Hill Academy uses a rolling admission process, and enrolls new students throughout the school year when space is available.  The school admits students of any race, color, religion, sex, nationality or ethnic origin, and does not discriminate in the administration of its educational or admissions policies, scholarship program, and/or other school-administered programs.

The purpose of Oak Hill Academy's admission procedures is to identify students who will benefit from the school's individually guided academic track and speech-language based model of instruction.  New students are accepted on the basis of the following assessment tools as needed:

  • Psychoeducational testing
  • Speech-Language testing
  • Neurological testing, if applicable
  • Therapy updates and reports
  • Therapeutic needs
  • Academic needs
  • Student evaluations provided by the applicants current teachers and principal
  • Observations of OHA faculty during a student's 1-day visit, with a possible follow-up depending on the student's needs

The Oak Hill Academy Admissions Process includes 4 steps:

  1. Initial Contact
  • Complete a Student Information Form online.
  • A represesentative from the Admissions team will contact you to schedule a tour.
  • You may call the office to schedule a tour or ask any questions you may have about the process.

      2. Campus Tour

  • This is a time for parents to meet with a representative from the Admissions team to provide information about your child and to learn more about Oak Hill Academy's program.
  • If convenient, bring copies of any recent testing results, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy evaluations, therapy updates, and/or a sample of the student's work when you come to the Campus Tour.
  • Plan on spending about an hour.
  • Tour the campus and observe some classes in progress.

      3. Student Visit

  • Prospective student will spend a fun day in the classroom where they will meet new friends and experience the daily schedule.
  • No formal testing will be conducted.
  • A photo of the applicant will be taken to add to the admissions file.
  • A 2nd day visit may be requested, if needed.

      4. Follow-up

  • A representative from the Admissions Team will contact the parent within a couple of days following the student visit to discuss observations and recommendations.

Diagnostic Testing Information

Updated psychoeducational, neuropsychological, and/or speech/language testing may be required as part of the Admissions process.  Please consult with the Executive Director at OHA to determine what is needed. 

If formal diagnostic testing is needed, a list of referral sources will be provided.
