Well, that is what learning is NOT like at Oak Hill Academy. Our world is
rich with giraffes and porcupines and ladybugs and condors; and our
classrooms are designed to meet their wide variety of learning styles and
needs! Many of you have read or heard of the works of Dr. Mel Levine, a
highly respected professor of pediatrics and Director of the Center for
Development and Learning at the University of North Carolina, who has
devoted his career to the understanding and appreciation of “All Kinds of
Minds.” We at Oak Hill are committed to tapping into the potential of the
uniqueness of every student and fostering success in “each kind of mind.”
We are very proud to graduate happy, well-adjusted, accomplished
lemurs and centipedes and crocodiles (oh, my!)

					What’s your strength? Are you an artist or a philosopher?...an athlete or a drama queen?...a mechanic or a debater? Isn’t it wonderful that we are all uniquely different with our own sets of interests and abilities? But do most schools in America truly appreciate or plan for this uniqueness? Just think what it might be like for a porcupine to be in a school that taught only giraffes. The desks would be too tall, the writing on the blackboards would be too high up, everyone would be dressed in spots instead of quills, and the porcupine would just feel so s-t-r-a-n-g-e!
