Learning Garden

OHA's Learning Garden consists of an outdoor classroom, talk tube area, running/walking trail, crawl tunnel, xylophones, drums, butterfly garden, art areas, chicken coop, raised planter beads, and extensive landscaping.  Coming soon is the greenhouse and outdoor pavilion.

Our garden addresses all five sensory systems through various components and is a great area for motor lab opportunities. The students at Oak Hill Academy can arrive to school and naturally begin their day with sensory inputs that will set them up for success so that they can achieve their full learning potential.

Our garden is also used to enhance curriculum in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) based curriculum related to planting, growing, cultivating, harvesting and utilizing growing projects.  OHA believes garden-based learning is an educational approach that utilizes school gardens to supplement instruction in a variety of disciplines, and improves the health and wellbeing of students involved.
